The future of caravanning is here with caravan automation systems now appearing on the market.

Smart caravan automation is not just about having the latest tech gadget, it can actually be lifesaving in certain situations. For instance, if you’re on a long distance camping trip, it’s vital to know how much water and power you’re using so you can keep an eye on your consumption.

But there is an element of fun to smart caravan technology too. Who doesn’t want to be able to turn their lights off and on, retract their awning or turn on the TV, all with a touch of a button?

Today we’re featuring an RV automation system created by the clever people at REDARC Electronics, who are based in South Australia. The RedVision Total Vehicle Management System (TVMS) brings a new level of sophistication to caravan technology.

It allows you to control the accessories in your RV from your Smartphone, and gives you the ability to check and view lots of important information while you’re on the road.

This blog looks at some of the features of the RedVision Total Vehicle Management System and what it can do, what the system costs, plus more detail about the two additional kits that you can pair with it, for battery power and monitoring.

Innovative RedVision Caravan Technology

REDARC’s RedVision Total Vehicle Management System is a highly innovative product that allows you to control multiple onboard devices. The unit acts as a master switch so you can turn on or off accessories just by pressing a button on the display screen, or you can use the RedVision app for iOS and Android.

You can control the lights, TV, fridge, inverter, water pump, heater and anything else you want to connect up to the system. You can even monitor your water levels, interior temperature and also battery power levels directly when pairing the system with a Manager30 or Manager15 kit.

The battery manager kits give you more juice if you have a lot of accessories that draw power. You can also get instant feedback on your auxiliary battery and electrical system via the app so you know how much power you’re using; a safety net if you want to go away on longer trips.

One of the best features of the RedVision system is you can program it so when the vehicle ignition is turned on, it will turn everything off for you, except the fridge. This is a great way to save power if you drive away and forget your accessories are left on. When you arrive at your next destination it guarantees the beers will still be cold!

Installation Of The Redvision TVMS

Caravan companies have started installing the RedVision Total Vehicle Management System as an optional extra in selected models of caravans and trailers, so if you’re looking to buy a new caravan, this is exciting technology. At this stage retro fitting this technology is not available.

The RedVision App

The RedVision app is by all accounts easy to use and has modern, user-friendly interface.

Grant and Linda of My Travel Guide tested the RedVision TVMS on a trip to Kimberley and found the app user-friendly and easy to operate.

“The Bluetooth connection to our smartphone now means we can confirm the status of charge while driving, and allows us to switch lighting on/off around our campsite from the comfort of our camp chairs at night.”

They continue:

“We now have one go to device that provides us with all the information we need to control our daily living needs – our water supplies, power needs, and the smartphone app means we are never left to guess whether we have enough power to meet our needs.”
