Emu Caravans are proud to have worked on a really exciting remodeling project during 2017. Some of our customers would have seen glimpses of the shiny black Mack truck that was parked at our workshop during the year. We certainly received a lot of interest from people asking what it was all about and eager to see the results. Well the job is finished and the results were featured in a full page spread of the May edition of Horse Deals.
We don’t often get the chance to work on these types of remodelling projects, so when James Harvey approached us, we were excited at the opportunity. James had purchased a 12 metre Mack truck that he wanted to convert into a luxury horse transport vehicle, with luxury living and sleeping for himself, his wife and two sons.
We were given the job of fitting out the living area to sleep up to five people, provide a kitchen and bathroom, dining area, as well as installing full ducted heating and cooling and an in built entertainment system for luxury living. As you can imagine, this wasn’t an easy task. We completed the full internal fit out with all fittings and fixtures, including the flooring, as well as doing the electrics (12 volt and 240 volt) and all the plumbing.
The results speak for themselves. We created a sleek, high quality black and timber interior, with faux marble vinyl flooring throughout. The stylish kitchen includes a four burner stove, dishwasher drawer, oven and stainless steel sink. The bathroom includes a shower, toilet and basin.
The rig contained a 4 metre hydraulic slide out to provide more space in the living area. We built bunk beds into the slide out and installed a leather lounge in the dining area.
Other luxuries include powerpoints all fitted with a usb point, reading lights, as well as a remote control integrated multimedia system and two tv screens.
The main features in the living area include:
- Queen sized bed (located above the cab) and built in bunk bed
- Dining area with leather seats (can fold down for extra sleeping)
- Kitchen with four burner stainless steel hob, stove, dishwasher and timber benchtop
- Bathroom with shower, toilet and basin
- Ducted heating and cooling
- Remote control multimedia system
- Two tv screens
This Mack truck transformation project was a chance for us to be involved in something big and exciting. It provided the Emu team with an opportunity to use our skills to work on a challenging project.
As you can imagine a custom build of this size doesn’t always run smoothly. Emu Caravans appreciated the feedback that we provided a lot of regular communication to the client as the project progressed, and always communicated any issues clearly and upfront.
Emu Caravan Repairs has gained a reputation for taking on really challenging jobs. We are really proud to have been a part of this one. We hope James and his family enjoy many years in their Mack truck conversion.
